Gettin’ Dirty

By Cambria Turnbow

So… I’m just getting around to playing with some of my Tim Holtz goodies that I got at last summer’s CHA.  Joy and I were lucky to get some tickets from some friends, so we got to go and get dirty!  I have to admit, I was REALLY intimidated.  I’m a clean, straight kind of stamper.  After the shock, it was GREAT fun. If you’ve ever taken a class with Tim, you don’t have time to be too freaked out.   And, now that I’m home, and I finally have some time to play,  there is a great sense of freedom and surprise when you get to smoosh that ink around.  I think I’m likin’ it….

I used three stamp sets here, Love Notes, Dandy Days and The Journey.  I used the Ranger Distress Ink colors, Fired Brick, Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain and Antique Linen.

Monday, we start another Spotlight week, I hope you’ll stop by and check out what Cindy has prepared for us!  If you are looking for the sketch challenges, scroll down.  We’d LOVE for you to play along!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Spotlight of the week: I’m so lucky…..

Lucky to have a friend like you!

This was a super fun card to make using the sentiment from {Shamrock blessings} and the horseshoes from {kiss me, I’m green}. I used some Copic markers to make the horseshoes appear metallic — finishing them with Spica gel pens. I used a Prima flower cut apart and put three petals together with a hand drawn stem. I placed a button in the center of the ‘Prima’ shamrock. The sentiment is mounted on green paper and outlined with a fine tip black gel pen. I mounted the sentiment on dimensionals. I added some green May Arts ribbon to give it a little pop! The black and white Die Cuts with a View paper really compliments the green in the card.

Spotlight of the week: Happy Shamrock Day

Happy St. Patricks Day

I created this card using the {hearts & hugs} stamp set. I stamped the three hearts from the set on River rRock paper and added the stem to create a shamrock. I added a button to the center of it and cut out the main image with an oval punch. I mounted it on a black scalloped oval punch. The main base of the card is Wasabi paper which I stamped with some Wasabi ink using the Happy from {Big Birthday Wishes} set. I took some fun striped ribbon and sewed it across the bottom of the card.  I created the sentiment with a fun foam shamrock that I heated up with my heat tool, then ran it threw the Cuttlebugs Swiss Dots folder. I sponged the edge of the shamrock and placed a  gem in the center of it, then put it between the words HAPPY and DAY.  Hope you enjoyed this St. Patrick’s day card which I created with a Valentine and a Birthday set! :)

Spotlight of the week: May your blessings

Irish Blessings

This is a super fun card that I made for my Spotlight Set of the Week. This one using the {Shamrock Blessings} stamp set. I used the Swiss Dots folder on the green galore card base. I took some black paper and used the Martha Stewart edge punch to create the mounted frame. The main image was stamped with black ink on white paper. I used Copic markers to create the green gradient background, starting with the lightest color and slowly adding some deeper colors on the bottom and drawing them back up with the lighter colors. I used a little Sakura Stardust on the shamrocks and a fun shamrock button I found in my button stash! Hope you enjoyed this fun card!

Spotlight of the week: Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top o’ the morning Loungers! This week we will be seeing a variety of sets from Our Craft Lounge that showcase my heritage: Irish! The 17th of March is coming up, and my mom will be first to tell you that she is 100% Irish! She loves the history of Ireland and LOVES that she has some true IRISH looking grandchildren! I made a few cards for this upcoming holiday to send to my brothers and sisters, my parents and other Irish relatives. This card is a river rock cardstock base with some black accents. The sentiment is stamped with black ink on white cardstock, mounted on black cardstock, then the shamrocks around the sentiment are accented with copic markers. The main image is also stamped in black ink on white cardstock and accented with copic markers and some gold glitter on the coins. The main image is punched with a square punch, then mounted on black cardstock which is also punched with the scalloped square punch. Some fun green checked may arts ribbon completes the design. The stamps are from the set Kiss me, I’m Green! Stop by tomorrow for another St. Patrick’s day goodie!

~ Is it proper to say “Vintage” is back? ~

Good morning again, friends!

Well, this is my last day to host the spotlight for awhile.   I am a little sad.   It’s so fun to share :)    No worries though, I’m sure I’ll be back!

I was debating the title of today’s post.    Since the definition of “vintage” is something that is from the distant past, to say it is now current seems a little cheeky….. but I LIKE cheeky!

My first sample is from the new Vintage Swirls set.   Ack!  I so love this set.

I’m seriously considering repainting my studio vanilla and navy blue now.    I can’t get enough of these colors.

And this second sample is from the Say It Big set.   This was another set I scratched my head over at first, but then when I started playing with it, it was *love*.

That’s it for today!   You *must* stop back tomorrow for the Friday Sketch Challenge!!   Can’t wait to see what you all do with that!

Have a sunshiny day, ya’ll!

Hugs,

Holly
